I've been seeing Dr. Sara for 6 months and am so happy and relieved I found her. While I sought her out to help with my anxiety disorder via acupunture, she's actually help me address some core health issues (my eating/diet) which has helped heal my body in ways i never expected (or knew I needed!). In the time I've been working with her, I have removed gluten and dairy, added loads of wonderful herbs and supplements and my body is happier than its ever been. Im blown away by the fact that I made it 44 years into my life without ever really knowing about nutrition and what was causing so much inflammation in my poor body. Now I know.
,p> And while it's no doubt my body has grown leaps and bounds (and will continue to as I continue down my path to healing), I'm also so grateful to Dr Sara for her kindness, her patience and the love she has shown me after a really tough few months emotionally. She comes from a place of nonjudgmental love and acceptance and this helps just as much as her medical wisdom sometimes. Our path is not always a straight line and having someone like Sara to guide you through the journey is a real gift. I'm so grateful.Yasue T.

I've been seeing Dr. Gordon for four years on a regular basis and am quite happy with her services.
- We are specifically working together to address three health goals:
- 1) Optimal health
- 2) Supporting my immune system to overcome minor illnesses (cold, flu, etc.) more quickly
- 3) Addressing a condition diagnosed by my D.O. (via blood work) in a natural way
- 1) I'm a 56 year-old male that began training for and racing triathlons after a 25 year hiatus from the sport. While I kept in shape with cycling all these years, adding two more sports at my age was a tall order. After 4 months of training I was able to finish 3rd in my age group at a national-class Olympic-distance race. During that season I was constantly fighting fatigue and some minor aches and pains, and I'm confident I would not have achieved this result this quickly without her support.
- 2) Before I began seeing Dr. Gordon I would annually have two or three bouts with a "virus" (as diagnosed by my D.O.) that could not be treated with prescription drugs (other than palliative relief), and it would require 3-5 days of downtime and another 1-2 weeks to regain 100% strength. By monitoring and building up my immune system over time, my body can now move through these bugs in a day or two, and be feeling 100% (and working out again) within days without worrying about a relapse. The difference is quite noticeable and appreciated, as I'll suffer less downtime with work and personal activities during the cold/flu season.
- 3) Regarding the chronic condition - I did not want to take prescription drugs for this condition because the common side-effect is fatigue, and there are rare but potentially permanent side effects with long-term use. We have been able to treat this condition with natural products and my blood testing confirms it is being kept in check.
- To my mind, Dr. Gordon's expertise and her approach is a _complement_ to traditional medicine. She does not replace a primary care doctor, a lab, the ER or specific specialists. I've been able to, at age 56, be completely prescription drug-free during the time I've been seeing her ... at times having a diagnosis made by my D.O. and then working with Dr. Gordon on a more natural treatment. As a result I've been able to avoid use of antibiotics and other prescription meds. and enjoy better overall health than before.
- B) Regarding A, I've always found Dr. Gordon open to hearing what my other providers' opinions and results of tests. She is very curious and not the least bit defensive. In fact, she's been able to recommend more holistic alternatives that, in my case, have achieved better results for me.
- C) I also treat health as my personal responsibility and all my doctors, physicians and specialists are simply part of my team. There are times where I will elect to not follow the opinion or advice of my team, or I will seek other specialists. I take the time the thoroughly understand and be responsible for my health, instead of relying on one or a few practitioners to tell me what to do. If I need to "break a tie" in differing opinions, or choose to ignore the advice of a practitioner, I do so with the understanding that my health is my personal responsibility, and not that of anyone else.
- If you're looking for a naturopathic physician / acupuncturist to be an integral part of your healthcare team, who can provide suggestions for natural alternatives to prescription meds and over the long-term support your development of better overall health, I can say that I have been able to enjoy those results with Dr. Gordon.
- Regarding these three goals:
I will also state that, even if my D.O. did recommend use of antibiotics, flu vaccines or other prescription meds, I was always able to find an alternative treatment with Dr. Gordon.
I would observe a few things about working with a provider such as Dr. Gordon:

If not for the skill, insight and presence of Dr Sara, I would be far less healthy, struggling against fatigue and bothersome conditions related to a busy, productive modern way of life.
Although already practicing a fairly wholesome lifestyle, ( exercise, good diet, no tobacco, not overweight) my body needed far more nourishment, rest, care, attention, openness, and healing than afforded previously.
Once putting my (over-done) self in her capable hands and assuming the responsibility to ensure restorative time for this body, a deep healing took hold and continues today.
I recommend Sara Kendall Gordon for anyone ready to change his or her mind, to let go of old habits and enter a fresh, new, satisfying way of being in a body. If you are contending with a condition that either baffles or annoys you ( and your physician) and find yourself stuck in patterns that feel puzzling and unhealthy ( insomnia, dietary cravings, exhaustion, nervous system overload, digestive upset, inexplicable aches) and are willing to be different, then Dr Sara is your best ally for better health.
As a working registered nurse for thirty years, I know the need for standard medical approaches and respect them fully. When those approaches don't quite address all that a body might experience, it is a great, good fortune to find another way to health.
For emergencies and allopathic care, I turn to my HMO.
For true health and well-being, I'm fortunate to have Sara.
PS am a Marin local. Yelp must just know how I adore ABQ New Mexico!

Through her use of a very thorough intake, careful & compassionate listening, extensive testing, acupuncture, supplementation and her well-spring of knowledge and understanding of functional medicine, I always find myself back on the road to good health.
Over the years, she has treated me for hormone imbalances, migraines, parasites, blood sugar imbalances and more recently Hashimoto's Thyroid Autoimmune disorder and subsequent challenges arising due to that. If not for Sara, I would have simply been handed a pill by my endocrinologist and sent off while my immune system continued to break down. I DO have to take thyroid medication but Sara has educated me as to how I can fundamentally support my body and prevent "flare-ups."
A visit to Sara undoubtedly means some life-style changes are in order but if you are serious about your health and want to live a thriving, vibrant life, I encourage you to listen to carefully to her advise. I personally don't know what I'd do without her!
